Agreement

By accessing or using Sprout Money (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract to use Sprout. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide, activity under your account, and the security of your device and Apple account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

What Sprout provides

Sprout is a personal budgeting and financial organization tool. It may calculate budgets, safe-to-spend amounts, goals, transaction categories, reminders, or insights from information you provide and information retrieved from connected services.

Sprout does not provide banking, investment, tax, legal, credit-repair, or other professional advice. Calculations and insights may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. You remain responsible for reviewing your financial accounts, paying bills, avoiding fees, and making your own decisions.

Financial connections

You may choose to connect eligible financial accounts through Plaid or another supported provider. You authorize Sprout and the provider to access and process the account information needed for the features you request. You represent that you are authorized to access each account you connect.

Institutions may delay, change, or stop providing data. Sprout is not responsible for third-party outages, missing transactions, stale balances, or actions taken based on incomplete information. You can disconnect an institution through the app.

Household sharing

Household features are designed for people who have agreed to share a financial picture. By joining a household, you understand that the other member can see its connected accounts and downloaded financial activity, along with shared budgets, goals, settings, ownership labels, names, and profile icons. Only join with someone you trust.

Household roles may give one member editing control while another has limited or read-only control. Members are responsible for obtaining any permission required before connecting or labeling an account and for resolving decisions between themselves. Sprout is not a party to disputes between household members.

Subscriptions and billing

Some features require an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple. Pricing, billing period, and trial information are shown before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple account. Unless canceled, a subscription renews according to Apple’s terms and the selection you made.

You can manage or cancel through your Apple account settings. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period. Deleting Sprout or deleting your Sprout account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Refunds, when available, are handled under Apple’s policies.

A subscription may cover a household. The purchasing member manages that subscription, and cancellation or expiration can affect access for the household’s other member.

Acceptable use

You may not misuse the Service. For example, you may not:

  • access accounts or information without authorization;
  • interfere with, probe, overload, or bypass the Service’s security;
  • use automated means to scrape or access the Service except as we expressly allow;
  • copy, reverse engineer, resell, or exploit the Service except where applicable law permits; or
  • use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive activity.

Ownership and feedback

Sprout and its licensors own the Service, including its software, visual design, characters, trademarks, and content. These terms give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose.

You keep ownership of information you provide. You give us the limited rights needed to host, process, display, and transmit it to operate the Service. If you send feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or compensation.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties such as Apple, Plaid, financial institutions, hosting providers, and limited AI processing providers. Their products and terms are separate from ours. We are not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, or decisions.

Changes, suspension, and termination

We may improve, add, remove, or discontinue features. We may update these terms by posting the revised version and changing the effective date, with additional notice when required. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised terms.

You may stop using Sprout and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the Service, comply with law, or respond to a material violation of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

Disclaimers and limits of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, secure, error-free, or that financial data and calculations will be complete or current.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sprout Money and its affiliates, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the Service. Our total liability for claims related to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to Sprout during the 12 months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be limited. These terms are governed by applicable law, without overriding any consumer protection rights that apply where you live.
